Outlined in the study, “Faces in Motion: Age Related Changes in Eyewitness Identification Performance and Simultaneous, Sequential, and Elimination Lineups,” two lineup procedures are identified in order to increase overall accuracy. The first, sequential lineup, is where the lineup members are presented serially. The second, simultaneous lineup, involves presenting the members all at once.
In terms of sequential lineups, they have been shown to reduce adult false identification rates without having any significant effects on correct identification. It encourages the witness to review the lineup members individually, rather than judging them relative to one another. Because the rates of false identification are much higher with children, an adaptation of the simultaneous lineup was developed. It involves two main processes in identification. At first, the witness is asked which of the members is the offender. They are then asked, moving down the line, whether the member is, or isn’t, the offender.
Various versions of these lineup procedures exist in different conditions. During the study, the procedures for the specific lineups included, but were not limited to: participants not being permitted to move backwards or forwards in the lineup, to pause a video clip, or be given an additional look at a members

Identification performance was linked with whether the lineup was terminated following the first positive response. In an effort to combat the problem, a lineup of moving images was developed. Often, witnesses get several different perspectives of the suspects face, and this opportunity allows them a deeper picture of the offender in order to make a more confident response. It was also shown the position of the suspect is critical. All lineup members must be in the same position in order for better witness identification
