MEMORANDUM

TO: Chemistry 2204 Students

FROM: Elena Munteanu, Laboratory Supervisor

1. Laboratories for CHEM 2204 are scheduled to begin on January 12, 2015. All students in CHEM 2204 must have the WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) course completed before being allowed into their first lab. The course will take 3 hours to complete. If you already completed the training you do not have to take it again. The instructions are posted on CULearn.

2. Students that did not take CHEM 2203 in September 2014, should purchase a laboratory manual and a CARBONLESS laboratory notebook from the College of Natural Science Stores (Room 118-Steacie-bldg; hours of operation: 8:30AM to 4:30PM).
These are required for the first lab period. The schedule of experiments is on the first page of the lab manual.
Students should prepare accordingly.

3. The wearing of safety goggles and lab coats is MANDATORY AT ALL TIMES. Safety goggles may be purchased from the main storeroom (Room 118-SC). Goggles must be worn over Prescription glasses. Contact lenses should not be worn in the lab. Lab coats may be purchased in Room 118 SC. NO SHORT PANTS, OR SKIRTS, and NO OPEN TOED SHOOS ARE ALLOWED at any time. Students not following the safety rules will not be allowed in the lab. 4. Laboratory Fee - A non-refundable laboratory fee of $5.00 is required to reimburse the Department for loss, breakage and wear and tear of glassware
