Michael, you made a great point about Sherry, the charge nurse. She should have made an educational experience to James when he presented to her feeling apprehensive about caring for the patient. James, being a recently hired nurse needs training and support from the other nurses and team members on this unit. The charge nurse should have been the one James should feel reassurance from, instead she did nothing to help him with his inexperience with this type of surgery. The leader is responsible for delegation and supervision, which consists of the leader being available and assisting their fellow colleague through the actions and behaviors that need to be taken (Huber, 2014).
