In the story, “David and Goliath” and the poem, “Casey at the Bat”, a comparison of David and Casey, there are very many differences and similarities. Similarity number one is that both David and Casey showed lots of determination. From the story, the text says, “Sir, I have killed lions and bears that way, and I can kill this worthless Philistine,” and the poem says, “There was ease in Casey’s manner as he stepped into his place; There was pride in Casey’s bearing and a smile on Casey’s face.” Both quotes show that David and Casey were determined. David was telling the king that he would be able to defeat the Philistine. Casey was showing pride and was very laid back when he stepped to the plate. He was overconfident.
