General Information:
Cassandra was on time for her interview. She was professionally dressed. Her family is Cuban and Hispanic. She has an adopted brother and sister. She learned from her adopted brother to always do what makes you happy. This has taught her to be more secure with herself and the choices that she makes.
She said that her friends would describe her has optimistic, adventurous, and a people person.
Background and Experience:
Cassandra’s desires to be a doctor comes from many aspects of her life. She has known since she was little that she wanted to be a doctor. She is always the first to want to help those that need it. She has witness many family and friends deal with substance abuse. She has be a care-giver to some of them. She has experience a friend committee suicide. She herself has made medical issues such as thyroid disease since the 7th grade. She currently has a bleeding disorder. Given all of exposure to various health problems surrounding her, she feels that being a doctor is best suited for her. She stated that she want to be a doctor so that she can provide care to those that need it. In addition, she wants to be doctor that can provide empathy to her patients.

She found this experience to be very rewarding. She was very detailing in describing how the doctor was able to help a patient who was depressed. The doctor did not just want to put the patient on medicine. So the doctor spent a considerable amount of time with the patient and found out that the patient mother was emotionally abusive. The doctor was able to get the patient some counseling and did not have to put her on medication. Cassandra said that this experience was profound because as doctor you have to not just look at the symptoms but drill down to find more about what was causing the symptoms
