“The attacks of 9/11 were intended to break our spirit, but instead we have emerged stronger and more unified” said by Rudy Giuliani, the New York mayor at the time of the attacks. The United States did not only come together after the attacks but also created a bond that will never be broken. The September 11th attacks in 2001 had a significant impact on America by pushing the nation to create homeland security, increasing security screenings in airports, and raising awareness about American Muslims.
On September 11th, 2001 at 8:45 in the morning was the start of what future generations would remember as the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The first crash was by the American Airlines Boeing 767 which crashed into the North World Trade Center in New York City. An equally important event was the crash that happened 18 minutes later when the United Airlines flight 175 collided with the South World Trade Center. One hour after the first collision with the North World Trade Center, America was attacked once again at the Pentagon in Washington DC by American Airlines Flight 77. The main priory of Homeland Security is to prevent terrorist attacks and to enhance security in the nation. The 3 main ways that they intend to prevent terrorism are to just in general try their hardest to get the criminals before they attack, prevent importations or movement of chemical biological, radiological, and nuclear materials that are not allowed the in United states, and to decrease the amount of weaknesses that the United States has in our military and government structure. Homeland Security is always looking for threats on the nation’s land, and sea borders as well in the air above
