During the Columbian exchange, the settlers brought new foods, technology, animals and plants to the Americas. But the unknowingly brought disease. Because of this Native populations decreases drastically and millions of natives died. Diseases were brought to North America, including bubonic plague, chickenpox, cholera, the common cold, diphtheria, influenza, malaria, measles, scarlet fever, sexually transmitted diseases, typhoid, typhus, tuberculosis, and pertussis. This was bad for the natives and not for the settlers because they immune systems are used to the common diseases in Europe but the natives were not since they never were introduced to the disease before the Columbian exchange.
