The Great Depression started briefly after the stock market crash of 1929. By 1933, 25% of Americans were out of work. Many Americans lived in poverty. People invested their life’s savings into stocks, and now they had nothing. Men couldn’t find work, couldn’t get paid, and couldn’t support their families. The number of homeless people rose like never before. Consumer’s stopped buying goods, therefor factory income declined, thus making even more people out of jobs. Banks failed, businesses failed, and the U.S was in an extreme decline.
It all started October of 1929. October 24th, to be exact. If you had bought stock on margin, your money was now worthless. People began to be in a state of panic. Of course they would be. How would you feel
