The disease of addiction impacts the thought processes; another important aspect of effective treatment is individualized cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). CBT is a psychotherapy that emphasizes learning how to think over feelings and actions. There are many variations of CBT approaches so that if one approach is not successful another maybe helpful. The different approaches are rational emotive behavior therapy, rational behavior therapy, rational living therapy, cognitive therapy, and dialectic behavior therapy.
