Mexican-American civil rights activist, Cesar Chavez’s ambition for farm workers to get the proper treatment they deserved paid off well because now in modern society farm workers play a huge part in everyday American lives and also Mexicans are now accepted as equal Americans. Cesar Chavez began farm working when he was young. Chavez worked with his family and got to know the day to day struggles of a farm worker early in his life. In the 1950’s Chavez began working as a community and labor organizer and afterwards in 1962 he founded the National Farm Workers Association. Shortly after Chavez decided to boycott other organizations hoping to improve the treatment the farm workers received. To get his point across the farm workers deserved to be treated better, “He led marches, called for boycotts and went in several hunger strikes,” (biography.com). …show more content…
“For thirty years Chavez tenaciously devoted himself to the problems of some of the poorest workers in America,”(history.com). Chavez let nothing stop him to achieve his goals not even segregation at the time. Some say Chavez “dedicated his life to improving the treatment, pay and working conditions,” for the workers he thought weren't treated fair, (biography.com). He stood up for what he believed in, “Chavez and the union sought recognition of the importance and dignity of all farm workers,” (ufw.org). Chavez was a natural born leader. His ambition to improve civil rights importance was worth all of the obstacles and hardship because he used a method of non violence to bring awareness to the situation. He believed strongly that coming together and not cause destruction would benefit their problems. In the end it paid off because now a farm worker gets treated fairly and equal to any other American because of the influence of Cesar
