All speeches have a message that they want to communicate and the speeches by King and Chavez both hold the message of equality. The speeches by King and Chavez both helped shaped the US and have allowed us to grow together as a country. Even though the message was very similar, the writing styles were different and each unique in its own way. Each has their own way of getting the message across.

Every piece of writing is unique and if we look at the two speeches from King and Chavez we can see their similarities and also their differences, or the ways that make them more unique. We already know that both wanted equality for their people. Both King and Chavez saw the need for change and even took a step further and spoke up about it.

King spoke for all people across the United States. His vision not only included his people but any and everyone. He saw the issue as a united one and made it a point to speak and include everyone. He didn't use specific evidence, but he did use recent events and it was enough to help get his message across. In addition, to speaking of his people, he also made it a point to speak of his white brothers. We can see, even though he didn't agree with some things, he was grateful for the things he was given.

When we look a Cesar Chavez piece a little closer we can see how it differs from Kings. For starters, Chavez speaks for the people of California, although later King tells Chavez that their problems are really one they share. Chavez didn’t see the issue as a shared one and instead focused on one general area, the focus being in California. Another way Chavez differed from King was Chavez used statistics and also spoke of why and how his people were treated.

The speeches of Martin Luther King Jr and Cesar Chavez were pieces that were very influential. They both shared the same vision of equality. Even though they were alike in the message, they both had their own writing styles, and they were able to get their messages across while both having a great impact.
