Descriptive Title of Paper Cesar Estrada Chavez was a Mexican-American labor leader and civil rights activist who was born in Yuma, Arizona. The family of Chavez came from Mexico and was first settled in a farm in Arizona. In 1937, they moved to California because they were unable to pay the property taxes on their farm. According to Roger Bruns, Chavez first wanted to become an active union leader and to be part of a movement that would improve the life for the field workers when he was at the age of 12. His experience at a theatre influenced him to fight for civil rights because he believed that he should have the right to choose the seat at the theatre, rather than someone telling him where to sit. He later became the founder of the National Farm Workers Association (NFWA) in 1962, where he and other farm workers fight for wages and rights. Chavez is an important leader who helped the minority workers to gain their labor rights and civil rights.
Cesar Chavez have contributed most of the time in his life to fight for justice. Bruns recorded that Chavez involved in a small strike for his first time in the spring of 1965. Chavez helped the flower workers to strike for a higher wage. It was challenging because there was not enough of time for Chavez to prepare for the strike, and he did not have enough of people who would support him. After working for a several days to prepare the strike, the growers agreed to increase the wage, but not guaranteed for a long term increase. It was a success for Chavez, but he faced his failure at the end of the summer of 1965, where the grape growers refused to increase the wage for grape pickers. Although the result was not what Chavez expected, he knew that he would not give up in fighting for social justice.
