I decided to research Chad because It is a country I do not know anything about and my dads name is Chad. The climate in Chad is hot and varies depending on the location. In the north it is very dry all year round. In the central and southern part of the country rainy seasons. One landscape feature is lake Chad, which is where it gets its name. Some of the natural rescuers include: petroleum, uranium, fish, gold, limestone, and sand. Chad’s population is 1,412,107. Their country is growing at 1.92%. They also have a life expectancy of around 49 years. The most prominent regions are Muslim, Catholic, and Protestant. An internal conflict facing the country is the violation of human rights. Human rights violations are being committed by members of the Chadian military, the Presidential Guard, and the Agence Nationale de Securité. They are making arrests without charge or trial, and there have been enforced disappearances. The situation is also dangerous in the refugee camps of eastern Chad. Civilians and humanitarian workers have been killed and abducted; women and girls are victims of rape and other violence; and children can still be recruited as …show more content…
People from Sudan were fleeing their country into Chad to escape the violence and fighting occurring in their country. In February 2008, three rebel groups entered the country and demanded the president resign. Chad’s military refused for this to happen and stopped the rebellion. One hundred people were killed in the fighting. Chad accused Sudan of starting the rebellion. While, Sudan believes Chad supports the Sudan rebels. Tension between these two countries escalated causing Chad to close its borders to Sudan. In March 2010, Deby met with Sudan’s president.
