The problem that I see at work that pertains to this week’s readings is a peripheral issue of organizational culture: weak cultures. A strong culture is one in which an organization’s core values are intensely held and widely shared, resulting in loyalty, cohesiveness and organizational commitment (Robbins & Judge, 2009). Unfortunately, my place of work does not have a strong culture and weakness can be found in the concepts of chain of command and spirituality.
Chain of Command I work as a defense contractor for the army, meaning that I work in a civilian workforce alongside military personnel. There is much confusion as to who is whose boss and who should be contacted for pertinent issues. We seem to have two organizational cultures,
