Mark Twain’s book The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is during the time when the south was still grappling with the changes of the Civil War. People were still adjusting to the concept of no slaves, but changes were happening everywhere. The idea of a friendship between a white boy and a black slave gave new meaning to the idea of a mixed friendship. This friend ship was very powerful thing. Friendship is so powerful people change the way they act in front of your very eyes.
Huckleberry had an immense amount of happiness when he found Jim on Jackson Island. Huck says “I was so glad to see Jim. I warn’t lonesome now. I told him I warn’t afraid of him telling the people where I was.”(p.48). this was the beginning of a great and powerful friendship.
