Benjamin Franklin was a very important figure in American history.
He accomplished many things during his lifetime. For example, he served as the first United States Ambassador to France and was the governor of Pennsylvania from 1785 to 1788. Most importantly, he was one of the Founding Fathers of our country.

As a child, Franklin gave up school and started working full time at the age of 10 at his father's printing business.

When Franklin was eight, he attended grammar school. He left school in order to work full time. Although he stopped going to school, Franklin continued educating himself, particularly in the scientific works of Sir Isaac Newton and the philosophies of John Locke.

Franklin did numerous things during his life time. He was an inventor, creating innovative items, such as the bifocal eyeglasses. One of the most well known accomplishments Benjamin achieved was developing the scientific theory about electricity by conducting his kite-in-a-thunderstorm experiment. Franklin also help draft the Declaration of Independence.

Aside from being a writer, scientist, statesman, and diplomat, Franklin was also a war hero. He was able to persuade France in aiding the Americans against the British during the Revolutionary War. Without his help, American history would be different.
