In this scene, the focus is on Blanche’s attraction towards younger men, and why she likes this teen in the first place. It also captures the insanity she is feeling at the time, since it would take place only a day after Stanley rapes her. Blanche chases after younger men for two reasons. First, the attention makes her feel as though she is still young and beautiful. She thinks she will not be pretty enough to attract anyone once she is older, and this young man brings her back to her youth and gives her hope. Second, he reminds her of her young husband, Allan, who committed suicide after Blanche’s cruel words. She feels guilty about his death and she wants to fill his void with another young man who reminds her of Allan. After Stanley rapes
