Character Analysis: Fast Food Nation

In the novel Fast Food Nation written by Eric Schlosser, there is many events that can be take as a lesson. One of lessons that I have learned from this novel is people must always prioritize safety before other things. In the novel, Monfort, the employer of the slaughterhouse, failed to put safety as his main priority. He prioritize profits from than his workers safety. This has caused many of his workers injured when working. One of his workers is Kenny. Kenny was injured when we was thrown against a conveyer belt due to momentum produced when he caught a heavy box with one arm. Next, when Kenny was cleaning a gigantic blood tanks, he was not equipped with proper attire and that cause the chlorine mix burned his lungs badly. Moreover, Kenny was also injured when he was transporting leftover scraps of meat because of the truck condition was not safe to drive. This has caused his face bleeding from deep gashes. For instance, Carl Karcher, the owner of Carl Junior Restaurant, has struggle hard in order to open a very big and successful business that he has today. He used to work as a delivery man for a bakery and sell hot dogs to people in order to gain the capital to start a bigger business. Carl loaned some money from his wife to buy hot dog cart for his business. As time passed by and Carl owned more hot dog carts, he managed to start a fast food restaurant call Carl Junior Restaurant. In achieving his success Carl has sacrificed many things such leaving his hometown and spend most of his time working hard instead of relaxing. From this story, I have learned that we must struggle hard and sacrifices a few things that we love in order to achieve a bigger success. The story of Carl has changed the efforts that I make for studies. Now, I am more serious in studies and I spend most of my time doing homework and revising instead relaxing and enjoying my
