This way of thinking is the secret to Ball’s revolutionary show I love Lucy. Lucille Ball also known as Lucy, was and still is an American television sensation. She stole the hearts of millions and worked her way to the top while changing the world in ways some people may not have recognized. Ball shaped America with ease after being one of the first women to portray and work with her own family members, as well as being the first pregnant woman on television.

at first, CBS would not accept a Hispanic husband for an american girl on her television series however, “Ball told CBS she would not do the show without Arnaz, and they eventually gave in.” (“Finding Lucy” 3). Her commitment towards letting her husband co-star beside her shows her desire for change in racism and judgements. The struggle to have her husband appear on every show with her was a big one, however she pulled it off and showed to people that interracial relationships are acceptable. Even though Arnaz was Hispanic and that was looked down upon, they still made great success as a team. “‘I Love Lucy’... featured an ethnically mixed couple: Cuban Desi Arnaz and his zany white wife, Lucille Ball… initially skeptical that the mixed couple would be well received, but the show became television’s most enduring” (Hoag 15). I Love Lucy was without a doubt one of the most watched and loved television shows of this time and it would not have happened without Ball’s ambition and determination of letting her Hispanic husband on the show.
