To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee is a story about a young girl named Scout (Jean Louise) Finch going through a astringent time of racism in Maycomb, Alabama. Throughout the novel, we come to learn her father, Atticus, is the most compassionate character through the whole time of the story taking place. Harper Lee establishes Atticus’ character trait of compassion through his teachings of tolerance of races and people to his children.
