The play A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry has many themes, but the most prominent and displayed is the hopes and dreams of Walter Younger. Walter is the biggest dreamer in the story, but many of his family members don't understand his hopes. “I want so many things that they are driving me kind of crazy…Mama – look at me.” Walter strives to have a better life and have more things but they are almost unachievable at the moment. For the uttermost of the play, Walter is presented to the reader as a self centered character.
