Character Changes In Najmah's Life

(MIP-3) Najmah’s character changes because the losses of family in her life have shaped her as a person and have changed her personality during the outcome. (SIP-A) Najmah is a different girl than she was before, and she now is the responsible one, that has to do everything she needs to do to get her family back to her. (STEWE-1) Najmah throughout the book has had one goal all along all up since her family was taken away, this was tough for Najmah to go through, because to her it was like having half of her heart ripped out by the Taliban, and even her uncle. “But I must try to find out. And whether they are dead or alive, I must find a way to go back” (248). (STEWE-2) Najmah needed to know what happened to Baba Jan because she was his daughter. (SIP-B) Najmah never thought that her family would be taken by the Taliban, but they were, and this made a huge impact on Najmah throughout her entire life. (STEWE-1) Najmah needed to know what happened to Baba-Jan because she was his daughter. He meant everything to her, and to realize that he was shot really pulled at Najmah’s heart. Najmah felt defeated when she realized that Baba Jan was gone. She did not like the fact that she went all the way and did not find someone who she really wanted to see. Although she lost Baba Jan, Nur was outside when she was there and they had a happy ending. (STEWE-2) Najmah and Nur stayed up very late to talk it all out. Najmah needed to know everything that happened, to Nur himself, and to Baba Jan. Nur revealed what had happened to Baba Jan. And it really impacted Najmah because Najmah was looking for him and Nur for so long, and the outcome was only finding one out of two of the pieces she once lost from her family.
