Teachers serve as leaders to their students. In reading, Character Daniel Had What It Took! states that a person’s character is developed by the decisions they make (Maxwell & Elmore, p. 1048-1049, 2002). Every day, teachers must quickly respond and making tough choices regarding their students. Children will often imitate what they observe through your responses and actions. The text continues to share that respect, consistency, earning trust, and being a disciple of action are key components of character (p. 1048-1049). With that being said, I agree with the statement, “Our students not only watch us, hear us, and copy us, but they also absorb from us the obvious and the less obvious.”
