Personalities of Charles Foster Kane P.M. Forni once said, “When the healthy pursuit of self-interest and self-realization turns into self-absorption, other people can lose their intrinsic value in our eyes and become mere means to the fulfillment of our needs and desires.” Charles Foster Kane is a character of many different personalities. Through out the movie Citizen Kane, reporters are trying to figure out Charles Kane which comes out to be really difficult. Kane’s personality traits consist of that he desires and demands attention from everybody else around him, he is unable to feel compassion for others, and that he becomes livid when he cannot have what he wants The first personality trait of Charles Foster Kane is that he desires or demands attention from everybody else around him. Susan Alexander was an aspiring opera singer when Kane first met her, but she does not have the talent for it. Kane buys Susan an Opera house and pays for someone to give her singing lessons, trying to force her into an opera singer career against her own wishes. He is very unsuccessful and becomes livid because he did not get what he wanted and takes Susan’s failure to perform as his own personal failure. He blames the people over himself for what happened to Susan. Another example of Kane becoming livid is when he finds out that Susan is leaving him. He bought this Xanadu castle in Florida that is full of statues and has so much land around it. They are isolated from the other people and Susan is feeling lonely. He walks up to Susan room to find her packing up her stuff to leave. He begs her not to leave, but she does, and he throws everything in the room. He did not get what he wanted and it makes him
