Charlie Wilson's War is an American biographical, historical, and comedy-drama which is based on Texas congressman Charlie Wilson's covert dealings in Afghanistan, where his efforts to assist rebels in their war with the Soviets have some unforeseen and long-reaching effects. The movie was directed by Mike Nichols and was released in December 21, 2007. He is known for his work in Closer, The Graduate, and The Birdcage (“Charlie Wilson’s War (2007) IMDb”). The overall cinematography, actor’s roles, and acting ability accurately portrays aspects of the actual event.

Parental guidance is advised as the movie is rated R for profanity, nudity/sexual content, and for drug use. Since it is a biographical drama, the title fits perfectly. The main characters did justice to their roles as the movie had big screen names. Tom Hanks played Charlie Wilson, Julia Roberts played Joanne Herring and Philip Seymour Hoffman played Gust Avrakotos. Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts did not suspend disbelief, as their personalities as individuals are versatile. Whereas, Philip Seymour did a great job as he was genuinely passionate about his career. He was always humble and was one of the most original, versatile, and steadily employed actors in Hollywood. Philip Seymour made a name for himself playing some of the most dysfunctional characters in movie history.
As a result, the film was nominated for several awards but it won three awards. All three of the main actors were nominated, but Philip Seymour recieved an award for Best Foreign Actor (Santi Jordi Awards- Aril 23, 2009). The film also won two other awards for the music composition and
