Although Jane seems to be trapped in a world she can’t control, Jane is a delirious person who gives her imagination permission to trump reality. Throughout the story of The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Stetson it is easily detectable. If you were forced to be trapped in a room by yourself with nothing to do, you couldn’t even write how would you react?
“”This wall paper looks at me as if it knew what a vicious influence it had on me” (Pg 649) When Jane first is put in the room by her husband who is also her doctor, the wallpaper disgusts her, she hates looking at the ugly color yellow and tries to push it out of her mind but it’s looking at her, as if it had eyes.
