In any College class, students are faced with the task of using a computer to take the course. Whether it be for completing the work through several applications or for turning in their assignments. Students at Chattahoochee Technical College should be required to take an introductory course on computers for these reasons, as well as many others. In order for these students to become integrated into the classrooms it is best that the student learns how to use the computer, the applications needed for the courses, and the opportunities offered by the knowledge of these skills. Especially the core classes that most students must take to continue to corequisite courses. Assignments for students at Chattahoochee Technical College are posted on Blackboard and depending on the course, various applications may be used to complete them. In many classes, such as English 1101, the Word application plays a vital role in the course and without the knowledge of how to use it, it would be impossible to complete assignments therefore the success a student could have had in the class, had they taken the computer class is now gone through lack of knowledge. The PowerPoint application is also a highly used application and is for presentations a student may present for class assignments from time to time. PowerPoint may also be used by instructors to send out classwork information or notes to study for the class by. If a student does not understand how the PowerPoint works, then the student may miss vital class information and end up using important class time just trying to figure out how to use it. This goes for other applications as well. Emails are also a key component in class. Each student at Chattahoochee Technical College is given a school email associated with their courses. Students must know how to access this email and use it to communicate with their instructors as well as classmates. If a student is unable to use their email the student may miss classwork or deadlines due to the lack of knowledge.
