Lab Six explored the solubility of a set of metal ionic compounds in water. This lab uses centrifugation, extraction , and observation to isolate each metal ionic compound and determine what metal is the product of the reactions. In this experiment both calculations and observations are used to determine the metal product of each reaction. During the experiment the precise measurement of 2 mL of unknown solution was mixed with and extraxted from the Sodium based solutions NaL, Na2s, and NaOH.From the background knowledge of this experiment it was hypothesized that the first reaction would produce Lead Iodide , the secound reaction would produce Copper (II) Sulfide, and third reaction would produce Iron (II) Hydroxide.
