A famous Native American leader/ chief is Chief Joseph. Chief Joseph was a leader for the Nez Perce Native American tribe. Miles at the Bear Paw battlefield in northern Montana in October 1877. “From where the sun now stands,” he promised, “I will fight no more forever.” (history.com)
Chief Joseph was a great leader because 1877 he lead his people on an epic flight across the Rocky Mountains. (Historylink.org) Chief Joseph was born on March 3, 1840 in Wallowa County, Oregon, OR.
Chief Joseph (1840-1904) was a leader of the Wallowa band of the Nez Perce Tribe, who became famous in 1877 for leading his people on an epic flight across the Rocky Mountains. He was born in 1840 and he was called Joseph by Reverend Henry H. Spalding (1803-1874), who had established a mission amongst the Nez Perce in 1836.
