Chief Joseph’s Journey Today I am going to talk about a historical hero I chose as my topic because I am related to him. His birth name is Hin-mah-too-lat-kekeht but is mostly known today as Chief Joseph. Some say he’s important because he showed great leadership towards the Nez Perce tribe, but I’m gonna give you more specific reasons why he was a hero.(Beck) Chief Joseph was born on March 3, 1840 and baptized with his common name, just like his dad. At the age of only 15 in the year of 1855 he began his journey, coming across American settlers seeking land to find gold.
