Everyone loves a classic family pet. Why not choose a dog? After all, they are man’s best friend. But for most families a smaller dog would be a great asset. Among all of the smaller breeds, Dachshunds and Chihuahuas are the most popular small family dogs. Both are small and fun to have around the family. However, which should one family choose? Dachshunds are better family pets than a Chihuahua for various reasons. Dachshunds are more playful with children, easier to train, have a longer life span and has fewer health problems. For these reasons, Dachshunds are better family pets than Chihuahuas. For starters, Dachshunds are more playful with children rather than the Chihuahua. Dachshunds are known for being lively and playful with children, making them the perfect dog. The Chihuahua is aggressive toward children and could potentially cause harm to one of the beloved family members. With this being said a Dachshund would love to devote their time to children and family making both of their days brighter. Also, keeping in mind, the nonaggressive Dachshund would be a better choice with a family with smaller children. Smaller children tend to be rougher with animals and do not understand the boundaries.
