Many men nowadays of the age twenty six years old are immature and ain’t committed with a female. In the article “Child- Man in the Promised Land” by Kay S. Hymowitz has an audience and it meets the criteria for speaking to a friendly audience. It is said that men are not grown up yet, they are immature, they still play with video games, lounge around, enjoy sexual imagery, that they are single without any kids and that they do not owe a house. Hymowitz addresses a friendly audience based on the article. She gives very little background information but still wants enthusiastic support on her issue.

Hymowitz meets the criteria for a friendly audience. It states that a friendly audience “ wants enthusiastic support on her issue, wants new information on her issue, and doesn’t need much background information (perez 9).” Females are supporting her issue because she talks about how men are not mature at the age of twenty six they are “playing basketball with your buddies, download the latest indie songs from iTunes, have some fun with the Xbox 360, take a leisurely shower, massage some product into your hair and face, and then it’s off to bars and parties, where you meet, and often bed, girls of widely varied hues and sizes (Hymowitz 3).” Which men aren’t committed to having a female, having kids, owning their own home and having a career job. What is also stopping them from growing up and maturing is the entertainment. Most of entertainment that has been produced are video games, shows, media, movies, and networks these have been stopping men from growing up. The entertainment has been a big tool for men because the entertainment has them lounging around. The percentage of men committing to getting married have been going down, “in 1970, 69 percent of 25 year old and 85 percent of 30 year old white men were married; in 2000, only 33 percent and 58 percent were, respectively (Hymowitz 5).” This shows that men trying to get married, have been declining because they too immature and not committed yet. Hymowitz says that men nowadays at the age of twenty six years old are immature. I believe that she is correct men are immature, they just want to hook up with females, play video games, and waste their time. They don’t commit to a female to start a family, buy a house, raise kids, and get a career job. In the article it states that “we are a bunch of horny, insensitive (Goshgarian and Krueger 11)” that is said that they just want females to fool around with. Also, the entertainment has a big factor, it says that “Even though the networks must be restrained, television also has plenty of stupid fun, gross out humor, and even a low level sadism for child man viewers (Goshgarian and Krueger 14).” It is said that men have been entertained by television that they just want to have a laugh and some fun not ready to commit to
