Dreams are a gateway for your subconscious to interpret thoughts, ideas, and memories every day. It could about like eating a delicious feast with friends and family surrounded by you or getting praise from co-workers or bosses that make you wake up feeling happy and refreshed for the day ahead. But, sometimes dreams can quickly turn into nightmares that make you want to stay awake. I had one that was forever branded in my memory.

It started out innocent enough. I was walking through the forest with no particular destination in mind. The forest was made of giant sequoias that can reach 50 feet in height and 30 feet around. I came to a clearing where a small bubbling brook was flowing from out of one of the giant trees. I stopped to get a drink and cupped my hand into the cool water and pulled it out quickly to my mouth. I was surrounded by the sounds of birds whistling to another, a bunny scurrying quickly into a bush, and deer hooves’ hitting the ground as they run off. Then, I heard a giant snap of a limb behind me across the clearing in the shadows of the forest. Then I faintly smelled the scent of rot and decay. The creature’s scent was strong now invading my senses. Its body shadowing over me as it crouched down. Its matted fur felt rough and coarse like sandpaper against my skin and I knew there was no escape. I was frozen with fear as I tried to scream, but no words or sounds came out. Then, the monster opened its mouth and quickly chomped down on my leg. An excruciating pain emerged from my body and I was able to scream. The monster looked at me and its face was covered in blood and its mouth slowly chewing my flesh as it began to devour its newest victim. The final sight before I woke up was the monster’s claw on my throat and its mouth opening to ingest another piece of
