Childhood obesity is becoming more common in today’s world. Obesity has become a public health problem in many nations especially the United States. According to CDC the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “obesity now affects 1 in 6 children and adolescents in the United States. The reality of it is children’s eating habits can easily affect their future if it is not affecting them already. Everyone needs to come together to help stop childhood obesity by primarily addressing this issue. Obesity is linked to several long-term health conditions, premature death and illness including diabetes, heart disease, and stroke. This type of stroke is either a brain aneurysm burst or a weakened blood vessel leak with both leading to damaged cells and tissue in the brain. There is a time clock shown in the center which signifies the ticking time bomb and effects that childhood obesity has. Many people may be unaware of all the unhealthy and processed foods given to children. With that being said, many more may be uninformed of the long-term side effects these foods may bring. With technology in this day it is more likely to see a child laid back on the sofa hooked on a phone or tablet screen rather than being outside. Video games and the television also keeps children inside which means they are not going out and burning all those calories they just ate. “The Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans recommends children aged 6 years or older do at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day” (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). If children are already lacking in exercise it is more than likely they will continue the bad habit of poor exercise later in their life. A solution to this problem is easily limit time being spent with technology to only a few hours a day.
