Hi, I’m Moria. I’m a nutritional sciences student at UWM. I’m graduating this spring and then going to UW-Green Bay to complete my dietetics coursework to become a registered dietitian.
The Danger of a Single Story helped broaden my perception of people who live in Africa (the continent). Sometimes it is easy to forget that there are many social classes amongst its many diverse countries, and not everyone experiences war, poverty, and aids. I laughed pretty hard at how Chimamanda wrote stories based on what she read, based in England, and her “tribal” music was Mariah Carey. That was awesome.
The moral of the Chimamanda’s Ted Talk is that thinking of people in only 2-dimensions, as a single story, easily leads to stereotyping
