China is the most populated country in the world, with approximately 3 billion people China has had to issue a one-child policy due to the growth in its population during the past few years. China is roughly the same size as the United States however America has approximately 1.3 billion people. This means that China has 4 times the amount of people spread out over the same area. China has very few areas where the soil is good to grow crops. If the population in China continues to grow at the rate it once did, people will starve because their land cannot produce the food and fresh water required. The one child policy has helped to reduce the amount of people living in China and without this population drop Chinese people could start to starve, have no available jobs or areas to live. A major problem with this policy is that girls are being abandoned, killed or put up for adoption.
Can you believe that some families are charged if they have more than one child? The only way for them to have more than one is to have twins. Couples are unsatisfied when they have a healthy daughter. They put them up for adoption, abandon them, or have an abortion. They would rather their one child was a boy so he can carry on the family name. This is happening with the less wealthy families while at the same time the higher/richer families are allowed to have as many children as they want.
