China’s one child policy was very controversial. Many people use it as an excuse to why there are some social issues , they say it was the cause of a social imbalance, and it caused a decrease in the youth population, but this policy had many benefits and it helped solve the main problem that china had. This nation’s population was increasing rapidly, and they did not have enough resources to support it . The one child policy helped China get out of its crisis which therefore makes it a good idea, but however there were some disadvantages. China had a rapidly increasing population which was a problem during the time because they barely had enough resources to provide for their people. To prevent what could have become and overpopulation disaster, the government decided to pass the one child policy. According to Jonathan Watts in Document C, the population control “kept the sulfur dioxide emission down by 17.6% and [reduced] water pollution by 30.8%” which was a blessing to their environment.
