Chivalry and Courtly love
William was clearly a better example of Chivalry and Courtly love in this story for multiple reasons. First he showed all of the qualities of a knight, secondly he showed respect to Jocelyn, and last he honored his liege lord. Count Adhemar on the other hand showed no qualities of a knight and hardly showed respect to Jocelyn or his liege lord.
The first reason why William was a better example of chivalry and courtly love in this movie was because of his qualities he shows in the movie as a knight. Count Adhemar on the other hand hardly even complimented her when he met her and instead of trying to win her over like he should have done he tried to force her to marry him by making a deal with her father instead. In know way does that show courtly love and chivalry as a knight.
The final reason why William is a better example of these traits of a knight is because he honors his liege lord unlike Count Adhemar. Even though William was not a true knight he honored his liege lord and tried to do everything he was supposed to do and stand for as a knight. There is an example of Count Adhemar not showing this in the movie when he is sent off to battle by his liege lord and he destroys villages, steals all of the valuable items in them, and rapes their women. This is in no way considered honoring his liege lord and definitely does not look good on the country he is fighting for.
So in conclusion William is a much better example of Chivalry and Courtly love than
Count Adhemar for a number of reasons. First he showed all of the qualities of a knight, secondly he showed respect towards Jocelyn, and last he honored his liege lord.
