“In every single thing you do, you are choosing a direction, your life is a product of those choices.” This is a quote by Dr. Hall. In other words being able to make choices in life, is being able to pick the right choice from a range of possibilities, whether they may be right or wrong. In this story “Conversation Piece” author Ned Guymon, illustrates that the true nature of individuals, is most effectively a reflection of the choices they have made. These choices made may influence their futures, others around them and also shape who they are.

When making choices your future is always at stake. What you did yesterday or what you will do today, will always affect your tomorrow. Therefore the choices you make play a big role in your life. This is seen in the story when the husband kills both his wife and bestfriend. By the husband telling us “Goodbye” when killing the friend and “Dead” “Yes” when having killed the wife. We know as

These all play a factor in who you are, but also play a major role in the choices you also make. For example the husband, because he had killed two people out of betrayal in cold-blood he will be labeled as a murdered forever. This was a choice he had made in a calm/collected manner as if he was in control of the situation and knew that he was right about them cheating. The wife and the cheater made a choice to have an affair “How long?” “Long enough.” not once but probably multiple times. We know this by the panicky dialogue the friends shows “No” “Yes” “When” “Where” and also how desperate he is for him to be forgiven “Forgive me.”. The wife may have been not happy with her husband and probably thought of the time she spent with the friend was like her redemption. All in all, this was “unfaithful” and wrong to go behind the husbands back even though one was married making them both un-loyal and
