As I sit here and reflect on the life events that made me take this path, one thing is for sure I am not only doing it to better my own future but to help those around me. I unfortunately was a victim of domestic violence, not once but twice. I was; I don't want to say ignorant, but blind to the abuse that I was being put through. Which is why choosing criminal justice made sense.
My victims advocate helped me in more ways than she could ever imagine. I knew sitting there in that court room that this is what I wanted to do with my life. Of course, I knew the road would not be easy, and I would face plenty of challenges. But, my heart has a passion for criminal justice, for helping people, it is who I am.
