Chris Herren was a basketball all star all through his high school years and even off to college. He was born September 27, 1975 and attended Durfee High School in Fall River, Massachusetts from 1990-1994. He was born September 27, 1975. He came from a family that all played basketball so he had a good background for the sport before he even started. His brother, grandfather, father and uncles all played the sport.

Herren was the best player on his high school basketball team and the whole town knew it. He finished his career at Durfee High with a total of 2,073 points, the most points ever scored by an individual at the school to this day. He later got traded to the Boston Celtics but got released due to using a variety of pain killers. After that he went and played professionally for teams in Italy, Poland, and many other countries. He once scored 63 points in a CBA game for the Beijing Ducks. When he returned for playing in other countries, he used crystal meth and crashed into a telephone pole. The paramedics said he was dead for 30 seconds.

Herren couldn’t stop because he became addicted and he felt like he played better when he was high. He liked the feeling of being high. He finally quit because he had a family and he wanted to be there for them. He also when to a rehabilitation program that made him quit for good. Now he goes around to schools and other places and informs people why they shouldn't do drugs. He even started a program called hoop dreams with Chris Herren.

This movie really made it clear that drugs are not the answer. Even though they make you feel food at the moment they will hurt you in the long run. I feel like this is a very good movie and it should be shown to students so they know what drugs can actually do. You should show this movie to every health class you ever
