Everyone has their own pathway that they need to take to become who they are supposed to be, For Chris McCandless that was donating all his money, changing his name to Alexander supertramp, and going off into the wild, abandoning all that he knew. For some people it is easier to find themselfs, they don't have to leave their family, and friends. For Chris it wasn't ever that simple, he could not conform to the normal lifestyle, he craved more, and once he got the opportunity he took it. In Jon Krakauer's book, Into The Wild, Chris McCandless made many mistakes and wasn't as prepared as he should have been, but he took a step that any people wouldn´t to find happiness. Chris McCandless realized towards the end of his life that he had made a mistake, He made a mistake my leaving his family without a word of where he was going, he made a mistake by leaving the people at the salvation hill. Chris McCandless knew he wasn't satisfied living in normal society, he craved more from life. He wanted a free life, where he can choose where to live, how to live and didn't have to conform to social norms. There are probably times in everyone's life where they wish they didn't have to always conform and be socially accepted. Chris was well educated but not in survival in the wild, his unpreparedness was probably his downfall, but also added a pureness to his travels.
