Knowledge and the pursuit of knowledge is an age old vocation, from Adam and Eve to you and I today. Many people have differing experiences and ideas when it comes to the field of knowledge. For instance should knowledge be our focus or just a hobby or instead focus on our experiences and what you can learn from them. To come to a solution we first must look at differing opinions. Today it is best to observe the greatest thinkers of all time Socrates and Jesus Christ. Look at their to differing opinions and draw our conclusions from that.
With that being let's look at the ancient philosopher Socrates. He thought the Greek Gods were illogical and had now place in a logical world. Overall if you had the chance to ask Socrates what is the purpose of life. He would tell you to seek knowledge and do accordingly.
However on the other side of this you have someone like Jesus Christ. Who was born into a poor physical family. And yet by all of the standards of Socrates was a very wise and knowledgeable person. How is this possible? In Order to understand this let's look at what the man himself believed about life in contrast to what socrates thought.
Instead of the pursuit of knowledge as life's soul purpose Jesus did something unique. He thought knowledge was important but secondary compared to following the one who knew all things, God. His Primary teaching was to understand that we has humans do not know everything. And never will, but instead of searching for this understand the larger picture. And that is that we are sinners and if do not want to be fully punished for our sin then we need to believe in Jesus as our savior. The contrast between is easily spotted. Socrates is relying on himself and his own goodness which can only get anyone so far. Even more importantly was the difference in religions.
