Christianity

The term gospel, refers to a written account of Jesus’ life and resurrection, there are 4 gospel books, they are called, the Gospels of Mathew, Mark, Luke, and John, they are considered canonical and vital to Christianity. Christianity has played a vital role in the shaping of the Western civilisation in moral ways, like human rights, non-sexism, slavery, and mainly faith. There are 5 main principal beliefs that Christianity holds, they are:
-The Nature of God and the Trinity
-Revelation
-Salvation
-The Divinity and Humanity and Jesus Christ
-Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ

!

The first principal belief that I have listed was that there is only one God and he is the most powerful being in existence, he created everything we see around us. The belief in only one god is called Monotheism. This belief in one God has affected it’s adherents by keeping us loyal and focused on only one God, it also makes us tend to believe that one truth exists for the whole world and everything that it contains. This belief gives man a heightened level of self esteem and self-respect, the adherent knows that God is the most powerful being in the word, and no one except God can harm or benefit, give or take life, and have influence or authority. The trinity is God, but as three people: “baptising them in the name of the father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Mt 28:19), The trinity has three functions that cohesively work together, creating, sanctifying, and redeeming. The trinity influences the lives of adherents by saying that God should be at the centre of our daily relationship with him, through the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

The second principal belief is Revelation, or how God has revealed himself to humamity, and the bible is the way he has revealed his existence, this belief is one of great importance, because if we didn’t have the bible, how would we know that God exists? The bible is one of the worlds best selling books, it has been acknowledged by many different religions, like Islam, and Judaism, although Judaism only accepts that the Hebrew bible is canonical. Majority of the worlds population are Christians, Jews, and Muslims, this shows that the bible is a major influence on the whole world and has revealed God to the world.
Jesus is also a revelation of God, the bible is a revelation of Jesus. Depending on how an individual views revelation, it will change their view on the Bible.

The third principal belief is Salvation, this is the belief that God will deliver us all from sin and condemnation, to the kingdom of his beloved Son (heaven), and then giving our souls eternal life. The only thing that decides whether this happens to us is our faithfulness to god and how selfless we have been in our lives. This principal belief affects how Christians take religion, this makes people strive to live by what God has asked of us, and by staying faithful to him and not revoking our faith, and by living,
