Persuasive Essay

The new world was founded by Christopher Columbus in 1492. Europe set claim to the new land thus causing the dominoes to fall, ending with our great nation that we live in today. I don’t agree with many of the events that led up to how America is today, but we tried to make up for our mistakes and have created a great place to live in by doing so. All and all, the finding and claiming of this land proved to be a very good thing.
If Christopher Columbus had never landed in The Americas, things would be very different. I can’t say for sure what would change, but there’d be something. America is a great place now. People came here to find religious freedom. We can all speak without fear.
The natives were forced from their land. Africans were used as slaves. People got greedy, and mean. The white people brought disease, and killed many. These are all bad things caused by the discovery of the New World, I know.
Despite all the bad, a lot of good has come from Columbus’ finding. People were able to have a new beginning, and escape European government. We realized our mistakes and made peace with the Native Americans and by coming have helped them advance. By moving so many Africans here, we now live in a great big “melting pot”. We live with all humans as equals living what is sometimes referred to as “The American Dream”, while in Africa they are still struggling.
So yes, there was some bad caused by finding The Americas, but I think there was more
