I don’t think of Christopher Columbus as a hero or a villain, he started out just wanting to see if the world was round or not and Spain gave him the means to do so. Christopher Columbus’ voyage is descripted as being “inspired by greed, a messianic desire to convert the world to Christianity...” (Landman) and I agree. The three main goals of any quest was the known as the “Three G’s”; Gold, Glory and God. Columbus was being paid by the King and Queen of Spain to find more land for them for the purpose of “competition with the oceangoing Portuguese” (Landman). Columbus brought Indians back and had them converted to Christianity and claimed their land in Spain’s name.
