When confronting stress, both resilience and risk factors impact how a person reacts and manages the event (Diehl & Hay, 2010). Max is a stressed young male adult at the age of 26 and has a factory job on a strenuous assembly line that fluctuates in work load and hours. He has been presented with a multitude of risk factors; however, he is fortunate to have beneficial resilience factors. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the factors from a case study that could help or hinder an individual’s reaction to stress and the potential outcomes of those factors.
Max’s risk factors put him at risk for stress and, due to the dampening of the immune system’s effectiveness, disease. Chronic stressors can lead to major diseases such as depression,
