Ciara slowly opened her eyes to see streaks of sunlight run across her bedroom ceiling. It was a new day and she knew that if she was ever going to get out, she would have to use whatever time she had to start making a plan. She spent the whole morning, while she was getting ready; trying to think of ways that she could make her escape. She knew that the only way it would work would be to either wait for when Deaglan was not watching and run, or find something she could hold over his head as insurance. However, Ciara didn’t know how to find such a thing. Deaglan was very good at hiding the dirty, dark side of his business. Ciara was excited and terrified about the idea of finally being free. She began to notice that every person she met with had some type of bodily injury ranging from minor lacerations or wounds to broken bones; one person even had a missing finger. She started to get a sick feeling in the pit of her stomach. She tried her best to ignore this feeling and convince herself that they were just coincidences. Unfortunately, that didn’t last long. As she pulled up to her last stop for the day, she could tell that something was terribly wrong. All of the lights were out and the doors were closed; this was not normal. Normally she was greeted by the owner with a smile and a wave, but there was no one around. Her hands began to tremble as she just sat in front of the business. She realized that there was no way Deaglan would let her leave, alive. She knew that her only choice was to find something she could use as blackmail, which would not be easy. All she could do was just stand there with the envelopes in her hands. After the reality of her situation completely sank in, she finished up her day and went home. Ciara spent the rest of her evening curled up on her sofa with a bottle of wine as she tried to think of where she could find something she could use as blackmail.
