Everyone today knows the health risks that comes with smoking cigarettes and by 1944 three billion cigarettes were being made in one year. But back before the 60’s, no one knew of the major health concerns of smoking a cigarette, and it was not until 1964 when a surgeon explained in his report that the nicotine and tar in cigarettes were causing lung cancer. In 1965, Congress passed Cigarette Labelling and Advertising Act, every pack of cigarettes were to have a label on the side stating the warning of smoking cigarettes.
