James J. Braddock A.K.A The Cinderella Man was a man that gave many people hope during the Great Depression. He was a hero and someone who was just like every other guy in the world who got a second chance in a time where second chances weren't given out to anyone. That second chance would save his family. He was born on June 7th 1905 in New York City. His parents were Irish immigrants, Joseph Braddock and Elizabeth O'Toole Braddock. He was born in a small apartment, on west 48th street New York City. The Cinderella Man got America through the Great Depression.

In 1926 he entered a professional boxing circuit. He was part of the light heavyweight division. When he first started he was known for never being knocked out and being able to knock other fighters out with ease. On July 18th 1929 Jim entered a fight at yankee stadium fighting Tommy Loughran. “That whole fight Jim never landed a clean punch on the man through a whole 15 rounds” (According to source 1). Jim jobless fought for money and during that time only won 6 out of 22 fights. In 1934 he got his chance, he fought John (Corn) Griffin on and exhibition fight before the main event (Max Baer and Primo Carnera). Jim won the fight in a 3 round KO. Then he fought John Henry and again like the fight before the underdog Jim won the fight, in 10 rounds. After he beat Lasky in a 15 round victory he was the top heavyweight contender and would eventually fight the Dynamite Puncher Max Baer, (Max had killed two men in the ring during his career). On June 13th 1935 in a 10 - 1 fight Jim the Cinderella Man went into the ring at madison square garden in Long Island City New York, there to fight the champion, the Dynamite Puncher Max Baer.
